Daimaru Shinsaibashi Main Building Virtual Tour

Vories Architecture Highlight Spot

Today's Legendary Vories Revival

The Daimaru Shinsaibashi Main Building, completed by Vories in 1933, has been a location of historical cultural value for many years. As time passed, its renovation became necessary and the building was renewed over the course of four years. The main building had its grand reopening in September 2019.

The highly evaluated exterior and interior were preserved or reproduced as much as possible. About 67% of the 1258 interior parts were reused. In addition, the Midosuji side outer wall was also reproduced from the old Main Building. Today, customers can enjoy Vories' designs both inside and outside the building.

The relief on the open area above depicts "The Rabbit and the Turtle", which explains the importance of striving to move forward even if progress is slow.
